Founder and Chief Librarian
Kristine Dowhan founded the St. Pete Shush in July 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. She brings 5 years of Business Management expertise from the corporate world, focusing on organization, planning, growth, and the strategic mission of the Shush.
Kristine grew up near Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Mathematics. She enjoys going out in St. Pete with her husband, curling up with her dog and a romance or YA novel, watching Downton Abbey, and doing home improvement projects around her home on Snell Isle, St. Petersburg.
Kate Little established her Little Free Library in July 2020. She taught in the classroom for 9 years before pivoting to media specialist in 2020 at John Hopkins Middle School. She brings knowledge of diverse literature and our diverse St. Petersburg community.
Kate grew up in St. Petersburg and graduated from the St. Pete College with a degree in Elementary education. She enjoys reading Sci-Fi and Fantasy, crochet, and playing games with her husband and two children in their home in Historic Kenwood, St. Petersburg.
Nicole St Leger
Nicole St Leger established her Little Free Library in September 2020. She brings over 20 years of experience working with nonprofits and overseeing committees of volunteers, event planning & marketing.
Nicole grew up in California and Connecticut, moving to the Tampa Bay Area in high school. She graduated from the George Washington University with a degree in International Studies, specializing in East Asian Studies with minors in Chinese Language & Literature and Economics. She enjoys reading and sharing diverse books, along with creating projects by sewing, jewelry making, and crafting, and enjoys a water sports life. She and her husband share their home with four children and two dogs on Bayou Grande, St. Petersburg.
